The two systems deliver below Friant Dam, California. Dams create downstream discontinuities transport therefore influence fish habitat dynamics. Because these creeks are directly downriver from they become most upstream source of Dam.The quality quantity spawning gravel-bedded reach relies on a range bed material particle size suitable redd structure. effects coarse-sand fine-gravel supply salmonid depends primarily timing its addition River; thus, understanding timing, quantity, supplied is critical management ecological biological sustainability.Streamflow along with compared continuously measured water-surface elevations quantify direction streamflow. Stormwater toxicity in Chollas Creek and San Diego Bay, California.

Stormwater discharges from Chollas Creek, a tributary of San Diego Bay, have been shown to be toxic to aquatic life. The primary objective of this study was to provide the linkage between in-channel measurements and potential impairments in the receiving waters of San Diego Bay. This study addressed this objective within the context of four questions: (1) How much area in San Diego Bay is affec...

Declining Sediment Loads from Redwood Creek and the Klamath River, North Coastal California

River basin sediment loads are affected by several factors, with flood magnitude and watershed erosional stability playing dominant and dynamic roles. Long-term average sediment loads for northern California river basins have been computed by several researchers by several methods. However, characterizing the dynamic nature of climate and watershed stability requires computation of annual loads...

Changes in sediment and organic carbon accumulation in a highly-disturbed ecosystem: the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta (California, USA).

We used the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta CA (Delta, hereafter) as a model system for understanding how human activities influence the delivery of sediment and total organic carbon (TOC) over the past 50-60 years. Sediment cores were collected from sites within the Delta representing the Sacramento River (SAC), the San Joaquin River (SJR), and Franks Tract (FT), a flooded agricultural trac...

Estimates of suspended sediment entering San Francisco Bay from the Sacramento and San Joaquin Delta, San Francisco Bay, California

This study demonstrates the use of suspended-sediment concentration (SSC) data collected at Mallard Island as a means of determining suspended-sediment load entering San Francisco Bay from the Sacramento and San Joaquin River watersheds. Optical backscatter (OBS) data were collected every 15 min during water years (WYs) 1995–2003 and converted to SSC. Daily fluvial advective sediment load was e...

A Sediment Budget for Town Creek Watershed: Suspended Sediment Transport Rates Analysis

The Town Creek watershed is located in the Southeastern Plains Ecoregion in Mississippi. Its total area covers 1,769 km and represents approximately 50% of the upper Tombigbee River basin area contributing to the Aberdeen Pool on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. The sediment yield from the watershed attributes to the estimated 320,000 T yr of deposition in Aberdeen pool, where annual dredging ...
